Borth Senior Citizens
IT HAS been a busy, interesting but also sad year for Borth Senior Citizens so far. Sadly committee member Christine Sewell died suddenly in mid February. Club members will miss her smile, her friendship and her helping hands, as will her family. The group has visited the pantomime in Aberystwyth, had first-aid instruction from PCSO Dave Goffin, had a presentation of slides of the history of the village’s sea defences from 1898 with Cllr Ray Quant and this week they had their St David’s Tea Party prepared by the committee. They were entertained by the children of Ysgol Craig yr Wylfa. It was the World Book Day at school and the children and staff were dressed as characters from their favourite books - with two ‘Gangsta Grannies’! It was a wonderful afternoon and members thanked everyone who contributed towards it.Ysgol Craig yr Wylfa has restarted its lunch club for senior citizens. In January it was a great chicken pie and this week members were spoilt with cawl, Welsh cakes and bara brith (thanks were given to Wendy. The children had walked through the village in costumes, with flags and we saw them all at dinner time. They looked great.
Members said they are so lucky to be asked to be a part of the local school. The next meeting is on 17 March at 2pm in Borth village hall when Beverley Dimmock from the RSPB will come to talk about Garden Birds. All welcome.
