Animalarium
THE animalarium has welcomed two new feathered friends after the attraction’s critically endangered grey-breasted conures had two chicks.
The conures, which are mainly found in a region of north-east Brazil, are critically endangered, but the Borth pair have now bred successfully for the second time. The new chicks have been warmly welcomed as the zoo is making a conscious effort to help boost the numbers of endangered species.
Boss Jean Mumbray said the wet summer had meant the conures bred later than usual.
She said: “Our critically endangered grey breasted conures have produced two chicks.
“Due to the wet summer they started nesting and breeding rather late, so we are very pleased that they have managed to rear two chicks. This is the second time that they have bred successfully.”
