A PORTHMADOG bowel cancer survivor has received the help of a number of well known faces to release a cook book to raise funds for charity.

Dafydd Farr Jones, 33, was diagnosed with bowel cancer at just 26-years-old in 2009, and since beating the deadly disease he has raised thousands of pounds for the Beating Bowel Cancer charity to help raise awareness.

The former Ysgol Eifionydd pupil, who now lives in Sittingbourne in Kent, will release his book ‘Cook Along With Celebrities and Inspirational People’ in December.

He said: “The book features tips and stories from survivors and families affected by cancer and even well-known politicians such as the First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones and the First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon.

“It was important to me to have Carwyn and Nicola in the book to raise awareness of bowel cancer in Wales and Scotland.

“Other famous faces include Chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, Lady Colin Campbell, Karen Brady, Kay Burley and Victoria Derbyshire who also feature in the book.

“However the real stars of the book are the bowel cancer families who also share their stories and recipes.”

Dafydd lost his father, Robert Jones, to bowel cancer only last year and says more needs to be done to raise awareness of the disease.

The book will be released on 1 December and for more details on how to purchase it visit www.wannadosomething.co.uk
