The Boys’ Brigade, the UK’s longest-running voluntary uniformed youth organisation, is looking for new members and volunteers in Aberystwyth to support new groups and an increase in membership.
1st Aberystwyth is one of the newest companies in the UK opening in January 2019 in Holy Trinity Church.
The BB is seeking volunteers who can give a regular commitment as officers and leaders as well as boys who might be interested in joining the movement.
Volunteers come from all walks of life and can be any age.
Volunteer Mel Burgess said: “I get a real sense of enjoyment and happiness from being a volunteer helper as I feel I am giving something back.
“Anyone can become a volunteer as every person is different and can bring different qualities, traits and skills to the role.
“It is wonderful too to be able to share those same skills and see the boys of the company learning and growing in confidence.”
Tim Eldon, Captain of 1st Aberystwyth Company, said: “We rely heavily on our volunteers to run the local BB groups.
“We are seeking people of all ages and from all walks of life who can make a real difference to young people in Aberystwyth.
“This past year has been very exciting and encouraging as we have opened our new company.
“This is great news for the national organisation, but we need more adult volunteers to help out, to ensure that we keep going and can grow and establish ourselves for the future."
The company meets in the Buarth Hall on Stanley Road on Monday evenings from 6pm to 7.15pm.
If you are interested in your child joining the BB or joining as a volunteer leader or officer get in touch with Tim Eldon the company Captain at [email protected] or 07926 007638.
