The star of street dance group Flawless can’t wait to visit west Wales next week when he and his troupe take to the Aberystwyth Arts Centre stage.

Marlon Wallen is the founder of Flawless, who came to prominence in 2009 on the third series of Britain’s Got Talent, making it through to the final of the competition alongside Susan Boyle and fellow street dancers, Diversity.

Like Diversity, who won the series, Flawless have worked continuously since the competition.

Their latest tour, Chase The Dream: The Reboot, comes to Aberystwyth on Saturday.

Of their upcoming visit, Marlon said: “I’m intrigued to be coming to Aberystwyth and I hope we’ll get so see some of it. It’s always a pleasure to travel and meet new people. We’re excited and we’ve never been there before.”

Drawing influence from distinguished dance icons such as Michael Jackson, James Brown and Gene Kelly, Flawless stormed onto the scene in 2004 – long before Britain’s Got Talent – as an embodiment of Marlon ‘Swoosh’ Wallen’s vision of mirroring his idols and inspiring the masses with his dazzling passion for dance, going on to take top prize at the World Dance Champions twice.

“Then we went on a TV show and became famous,” said Marlon, “and people think that’s where it all started. They don’t see the hard work that went in before that.”

To show the next generation of dancers what the world of dance is like, Marlon and Flawless have set up an academy.

“It was important to set one up and facilitate training and support,” Marlon explained.

“The message of our show is ‘chase the dream’, not just in dance, in everything. Our school, which is in Vauxhall, doesn’t just teach dance, but like skills, working as a team and fitness.”

The members of Flawless will have to be fit for their upcoming show which centres around an ‘intergalactic dream ship’ and the lives of 10 big dreamers who are optimistically longing for the chance to accomplish their ultimate dance fantasy. However, tensions rise as their dream slowly descends into their worst nightmare.

Of their upcoming show, Marlon said: “I think people can expect to be blown away.

“It’s a roller coaster journey on which you’ll feel sad, happy, wowed and like you’re part of the show!”
