TWO Lampeter cyclists have embarked on a gruelling 700-mile charity ride across Europe.
Brothers Rhys and Rhodri Price will be travelling through five countries – Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany – on a ride which will take them almost two weeks.
The lads, grandsons of Lampeter undertaker Gwilym Price, will be raising funds for two well-known charities.
“I will be raising money for Prostate Cancer because our grandfather suffers from the disease,” Rhys, 22, told the Cambrian News.
“Rhodri will be raising funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital as he spent some time in there when he was a tiny baby.”
Having set off from Budapest on Monday, the pair’s route takes them through Bratislava, Vienna, Prague and Dresden before finishing in Berlin on 26 June.
“It’s something we were planning to do anyway and as it got nearer we thought it would be a good idea to raise some money for a couple of worthy charities,” said Rhys.
“The first part of the route takes us along the Danube, which should be really spectacular.
“We have both trained hard for this for the past six months and are really looking forward to it.”
