Madam,
As another wonderful week in Aberystwyth comes to an end I thought I would write to tell you about what pleased me most about the town and what left a poor impression.
Firstly, I would like to compliment the council again for putting on some superb displays of flowers around the town. They are absolutely wonderful.
On the other hand, the large building opposite the bandstand is a total eyesore. I have been coming to Aberystwyth for over 15 years and that building has looked almost as bad as it is now for much of that time. A few years ago I recall reading notices on the building requiring the owner to undertake major works within a few months or face penalties.
There isn’t much point in the council spending large sums of money making Aberystwyth beautiful with magnificent floral displays and at the same time allowing a prominent seafront building to remain in a state of decay.
When I return next year, I hope to see this building looking as smart as the Premier Inn next door.
If the council has any pride then they will ensure that this will happen.
Yours etc,
Mavis Smith, Shady Lane, Great Barr, Birmingham.
