A POPULAR nightclub on the Llyn Peninsula has unexpectedly closed down with the loss of around 15 jobs.

The operators of VENU in Pwllheli, one of the region’s biggest entertainment complexes, announced late on Tuesday night that the doors would be closed with immediate effect.

A statement from VENU, which is owned by Victoria and Philip Morris, said: “Sadly we have had to close the doors on VENU for the foreseeable future. We would like to thank everyone for their support.”

The club, which has over 6,000 followers on Facebook, has cancelled all of its upcoming events and is listed as ‘permanently closed’ on its website.

Approximately 15 members of staff have lost their jobs as a result of the closure.

The employees, who should have been paid their monthly wage yesterday, were informed that the business had closed via a Facebook group message, with no prior warning given at all.

One aggrieved employee, who wished to remain anonymous, explained: “There was no warning. We got a message on Facebook on our group chat saying that’s it. It was supposed to be our pay day and she didn’t pay us.”
