Haven has announced 32 new jobs for youngsters at its sites in Dwyfor Meirionnydd, as part of the government’s Kickstart Scheme.

The new roles are in addition to 173 new jobs at Hafan y Môr site in Pwllheli and 66 at Greenacres in Porthmadog announced in March.

The extra jobs - 19 at Hafan y Môr and 13 at Greenacres - are part of a scheme providing job placements for 16 to 24-year olds who are currently on Universal Credit. Full training for the roles - across food and beverage, retail, activities, leisure and HR - is provided so applicants need not have prior experience before applying.

“We understand how hard the pandemic has been for everyone especially those trying to get into work,” said Paul Flaum, chief executive of Bourne Leisure.

“As a result of Covid, we have increased the number of roles we have available, particularly on our parks and resorts and are now looking to recruit people to a number of these roles via the Kickstart programme.”

All roles will be for a minimum of 25 hours a week over a six-month placement period, providing applicants with a chance to gain training and experience and set them up for roles in the future.

In addition, each new recruit will get a work coach and further training to help them with a range of employment skills from teamwork and communications training to help with CV writing and support to stay in employment.

“While Kickstart will help young people get into employment, we want to ensure they are equipped to be able to continue their work journey beyond the initial placement and we feel that providing them with additional skills training will help them to succeed,” said Mr Flaum.

“This is an exciting time to be part of the UK holiday industry but wherever their work journey takes them we believe this will provide the perfect Kickstart to their future careers.”

All roles are available via the DWP and those on Universal Credit can apply within their local centres.
