NORTH Wales’ pre-emininet explorer has been trekking the hills of Meirionnydd.
Ash Dykes, who recently won the coveted Welsh Adventurer of the Year Award following his 1,600 mile solo trek across Madagascar last year, visited Tywyn to clamber up Craig yr Aderyn.
Ash, 25, was joined on the day by ex Welsh international rugby player Rupert Moon and the staff of Brighter Foods, a company which employs more than 100 people in the area.
Following the walk Ash, who is originally from Old Colwyn and is regarded as one of Britain’s foremost adventurers, shared stories of his incredible expeditions around the world and agreed it is important to inspire generations to get outside and enjoy the outdoors.
He said: “It was my first time walking up Craig yr Aderyn.
“I spend my life training outdoors but it just goes to show there’s so much more to explore in your local community and beyond.
“I love that part of wales – the coast and forested area make for a beautiful place to visit.”
The walk was organised to celebrate the launch of Brighter Foods’ first snack brand Wild Trail.
