A DELAYED public inquiry into plans to build a new supermarket in Aberystwyth has been postponed again.
The Welsh Government was due to hold a public inquiry in March to look into plans by Aldi to build a new supermarket on the derelict site of the former Kwik Save and Cambrian Garage along Park Avenue.
It was finally due to be held this week as a virtual hearing, following fears that a hearing would not otherwise be held before the new year.
Now, however, the 10 November hearing will not go ahead after an administrative error.
A Planning Inspectorate spokesperson said: “It has become apparent that the applicant’s statements of evidence have not been seen by Natural Resources Wales and the interested parties and for this reason, the hearing will need to be postponed to allow these documents to be considered by them.
“This is in the interest of fairness to all parties participating in the hearing event, and to ensure all parties have had sight of the applicant’s statements of evidence.”
A new date has yet to be set.
The planning application was called in by the Welsh Government over potential flooding concerns.
The store, if it is approved, is expected to create 40 jobs and see a long-standing empty site used. Aldi has owned the land for around 10 years.
