Two brothers from Aberystwyth have launched a beer paying tribute to a landmark Ceredigion memorial to help raise money for the Aberystwyth Round Table.
Jason and Andy Hughes, of Hereford-based Wobbly Brewing, have launched the beer which they’ve called Cofiwch Dryweryn to pay tribute to the iconic mural just outside Llanrhystud that honours the loss of Capel Celyn in Gwynedd in the 1960s.
They were joined at the launch by members of the Aberystwyth Round Table, which will benefit from donations from the sale of the beer in the Aberystwyth area.
Jason said the brothers had wanted to “give something back” to Aberystwyth, and chose the Round Table as their parents both chaired the organisation in the past.
He said: “Myself and my brother run a brewery in Hereford, but we are originally from Aberystwyth and wanted to give something back into the community.
“I recently got in touch with Aberystwyth Round Table and discussed brewing a beer for them, but then putting it into cans naming it ‘Cofiwch Dryweryn’.
“We’ve designed the cans and packaged it all here at the brewery and it will be sold in casks and cans in Aberystwyth, with a donation going to Aberystwyth Round Table."
