AN Aberystwyth couple have said they are delighted after netting two nominations in the 2017 Fishing News Awards.

Craig and Rhiannon Edwards, the owners of Pysgoty and Jonah’s Fish Market in Aberystwyth, have seen both businesses shortlisted in the awards and are urging people to back their bid to scoop the two awards by voting.

Jonah’s Fish Market is competing against four other fishmongers in the Fresh Fish Retailer of the Year category after judges praised the customer service and the variety of fish available at the shop.

And Pysgoty will battle it out with nine other coastal restaurants after winning praise for the use of local fish.

Craig and Rhiannon said they were looking forward to competing in the awards and appealed for loyal customers to help their bid for award success.

They said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the 2017 Fishing News Awards and wish to thank all our loyal customers for their support since we opened both businesses back in 2015.

“We feel privileged to be able to showcase the best local shellfish and sea fish catch from Cardigan Bay at Jonah’s and Pysgoty.

“We wish to thank the hard-working and passionate local fishermen who have supported us. They work tirelessly in extremely difficult conditions to provide us with fantastic local produce.”

Voting for the awards is open until Friday, 28 April, and votes can be cast at www.fishingnews.co.uk/awards.
