Dwyfor Meirionnydd MP Liz Saville Roberts has commended a Bala caravan park for its contribution to the local economy.
Mrs Saville Roberts praised Parc Carafanau Pen-y-Garth in Bala when she visited the site to officially open a new reception area.
Pen-y-Garth is a local family-run business, part of Bala Holiday Parks company, owned and managed by husband and wife Gareth and Sioned Williams.
The business has won the David Bellamy award for conservation for 19 years running, also scooping best park in Wales.
Gareth and Sioned also own four similar parks in the Bala area.
Mrs Saville Roberts said: “Tourism is one of Dwyfor Meirionnydd’s most important industries and it is continued investment in developments like Pen-y-Garth which stimulate the sector.
“The knock-on effect of a successful holiday park like Pen-y-Garth, in terms of job creation and investment in the area, is very significant.
“Tourism facilities and local holiday parks make a significant contribution to the area, generating hundreds of jobs whilst promoting the beauty of Snowdonia.
“I was grateful of the opportunity to discuss the importance of the local tourism sector and how best to take advantage of the benefit it brings to local communities and the wider Welsh economy.
“This is welcome investment in the thriving Meirionnydd tourist industry, and I commend the Williams family for their vision and continued commitment to the local economy, finding new innovative ways of maximising tourism revenue.”
