CARDIGAN town is in the running to win up to £10,000 in prize money as part of a nationwide search for Britain’s best high streets.
With one week to go until applications close, Cardigan is one of the first areas off the starting block to apply for the coastal community category.
Cardigan is among the first 30 applicants in the national celebration of individual communities’ efforts to revitalise their local areas.
The Town Centre Partnership includes campaigning for cheap parking, creating a loyalty card and promoting Cardigan’s River and Food Festival.
Town mayor Cllr Clive Davies said: “Cardigan is a shopping destination with a unique offering of primarily independent traders as well a place to stay to explore the national park and coastline.
“Our dedicated group is always excited to develop new and innovative ideas to raise the profile of the town, through the partnership, we are able to benefit from having a common goal which includes a loyality card, themed events and exploring innovative technology for the high street such as free wi-fi and iBeacons.
“Fingers crossed our entry will be successful so Cardigan will get its name recognised as a great place to live, shop and work.”
