PWLLHELI chamber of trade could be resurrected to help boost the town if there is backing from local businesses.

While the chamber has been quiet in recent years, plans to revive it have been put forward.

Local businesses are urged to get involved and a meeting has been scheduled for September.

Ifor Hughes, of Pwllheli Butchers (pictured), the former chairman of the chamber of trade, said that a strong chamber could help businesses and the town as a whole.

He said: “In the current economic climate we feel that a rejuvenated chamber of trade would be of benefit to all small businesses in the town of Pwllheli.

“We fully appreciate that, with the summer season approaching, a period which will hopefully generate rewards for all local business, none of us can afford the time to hold a meeting imminently.

"We aim to hold a forum in September, but would urge those in business to consider this and actively support the chamber.

“We will advise of the date and time of the next meeting in due course. It’s our town. We need to work together on the road to mutual prosperity.”
