The Clarks shoe shop in Aberystwyth is closing, it has been confirmed.

A spokesperson for Clarks told the Cambrian News today: “We can confirm that our store on Great Darkgate Street, Aberystwyth, will be closing.

"We have a strong duty of care to our employees and will ensure they are fully supported as they now go through a period of consultation.”

It comes after fears were raised about the shop’s future when its store on Aberystwyth’s main shopping street was seen being stripped out this week (pictured). The store had been closed since before Christmas, in line with government lockdown guidelines.

It is not known how many jobs will be lost, and the closure adds to the string of empty retail premises in the town centre.
