A CRICCIETH salon has proved to be a cut above at a national awards ceremony.
Moncrieffe Hair was named as overall winner Hair & Beauty Salon of the Year at the Welsh Independent Retail Awards recently.
Browsers Bookshop, Porthmadog, also won Bookshop of the Year and Pysgod Llyn Seafood, Pwllheli, was named as Fishmonger of the Year, showcasing the best that Dwyfor businesses have to offer.
Meinir Moncrieffe, who owns the salon, was delighted by her accolade.
She said: “It was such a lovely surprise!
“It had been a hard week as we had lost my nan a few days before, who lived in the house in Criccieth which now houses the salon.
“We are so lucky to have such wonderful loyal clients who are willing to vote for us and of course I am so fortunate to have such a dedicated team ready to go the extra mile for all our clients.”
The awards seek to acknowledge local businesses. Winners are a true reflection of quality and customer service as they are chosen by members of the general public.
The Welsh Independent Retail Awards highlight the value of independent retailers to the communities they operate in, and try to recognise and reward the entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen which lies behind the thriving industry, which has been contributing greatly to the economic growth of the country.
The glamorous event was hosted by Polly James and Matt Lissack.
