A GWYNEDD digital project is in line for a top award.

Citizens Online has announced that its Gwynedd Ddigidol / Digital Gwynedd project is a finalist in the Digital Leaders Awards.

In each category 10 finalists compete in a public vote (which closed last week), before the category winners are announced at the DL100 Awards Dinner on 21 June.

Digital Leaders is a nationwide, independent initiative for promoting effective, long-term digital transformation across government, industry and charities.

The Digital Skills or Inclusion Initiative Award is for a product or service which has delivered a real impact in terms of digital skills or inclusion to its intended community in the last year.

Citizens Online has been working in partnership with Gwynedd Council since 2011.

Digital Gwynedd is an innovative partnership begun in 2015 focused on helping local people improve their internet skills and enjoy the social and economic benefits of being online.

At the core of Digital Gwynedd is the drive to galvanize a strong, sustainable local partnership — now involving 35 organisations — that will continue after the current funding period.

The project runs digital taster sessions — often in rural locations, joint training on digital inclusion and financial inclusion, and joint marketing campaigns — and set up and maintains a Digital Gwynedd ‘signposting’ website which lists 42 locations in the county providing free internet access, and 46 different forms of digital skills support, from drop-in sessions to courses.
