A group of friends from Llanddewi-Brefi have launched the very first Welsh language Escape Room in a caravan – Jengyd.
The idea for Jengyd came about as the crew tried to think of community activities that could take place during Covid.
The group ventured into hiring a room at the New Inn pub in Llanddewi Brefi as part of Bro Festival.
With every group in a bubble and every prop being disinfected between each group, it became clear that Jengyd could be one of the few activities working in the midst of a pandemic.
Following the success of that day, the crew have developed the idea of being able to travel Wales by caravan.
Dorian, Iwan, Elan, Enfys, Lynet and Emyr are the six driving force behind the venture, and with three of them working as teachers, there is plenty of scope for educational as well as light and fun themes.
The Jengyd caravan will make its first trip to the Pontyrhydfendigaid Christmas Fair on Sunday, 28 November, where teams of people will have the opportunity to work together to solve a series of puzzles and clues in the kitchen of Christine Bott and Richard Kemp, two leading scientists of the famous LSD drug campaign, Operation Julie during the 70s.
You have to wander through the room to find keys to open locks, codes to solve puzzles and much more!
And it’s all against the clock!
Enfys Hatcher Davies, one of the founders of the initiative, said: "We are very excited to welcome visitors to the Jengyd caravan. Choosing the first theme was easy, as we lived on the doorstep of the all-crazy campaign - Operation Julie. ”
Enfys added: "For those who will not be able to visit the Jengyd caravan, we have also created the Escape Room scenario in an envelope - a different Christmas present! The mystery of the envelope will take you back to the great snow of 1982. A lot of fun and a lot of head scratching for the whole family!”
