A CEREDIGION building site supervisor has scooped an award after being named the best residential supervisor of the year.

Gary Evans, who lives in Lampeter and works for Vallis Facilities Management in Aberystwyth, won the Local Authority Building Control Supervisor of the Year in the South Wales Building Excellence Award after being nominated by Ceredigion County Council’s building control service.

Alan Davies, the development manager for the council, said: “The awards celebrate building excellence across the full range of building sectors, with all of the project finalists nominated by Ceredigion County Council’s building control team.

“The awards not only highlight excellence in build quality and workmanship, but also recognise team working, sustainable design and technical innovation.

“The awards differ from others in the industry by acknowledging the often unseen contribution that building control makes towards the built environment.

“By working closely with the local building sector, the council’s building control service ensures projects comply with building regulations, resulting in safe, sustainable and accessible buildings across the county.”
