A COUNCILLOR is hopeful that a new £12m hotel and apartment development will bring “quality jobs” for local residents.

A new complex, set to be “the crowning glory of the Llyn Peninsula” according to developers, is scheduled to open next year in Abersoch.

The luxurious Whitehouse hotel has been earmarked for a spring opening, with apartments within the development set to go on sale for an eye-watering £400,000.

The original Whitehouse Hotel shut in 2004 and became an “eyesore” at the entrance of the popular tourist village, according to local councillor Dewi Wyn Roberts.

Cllr Roberts said he was pleased the initiative was taking shape.

“The area has been due for development for some time now, the councillor told the Cambrian News.

“Speaking to local residents and businesses I would say everyone is looking forward to the new hotel opening. Quality accommodation is always welcome here and top-class restaurants and facilities should bring quality jobs for locals too. I think it’s good news all round.”See this week's north editions for the full story, in shops and online now
