A cheese factory which closed earlier this year, with the loss of 80 jobs, is set to reopen in the new year, owners have confirmed.
New owners, Gloucestershire-based company Futura Foods, told the Cambrian News that a question-and-answer session that had been scheduled for Tuesday, 5 November will take place instead at the official launch in the New Year.
Futura Foods bought the factory out of administration in October after the previous owners left the factory with £4 million of debt. Around 80 jobs were lost when the factory closed.
A Futura Foods spokesperson said: “Site integration into Futura Foods is going well and we remain committed to restarting production as soon as we can in the next two months. It’s still early in the process but we have robust plans to get up and running as quickly as feasible.
“We are starting to engage with customers to make them aware of our plans and we have received positive responses so far.
“Recruitment of key staff is taking place and a number of posts have been filled. Commissioning of site to supply high quality, added value cheese solutions to food service, food manufacturing and retail customers, for UK and export markets is on track and more details will become available as we move forward.”
A date for the official launch is yet to be confirmed.
