AN operator is being sought for a new cafe being built as part of the major revamp of Ceredigion Museum.
As part of the redevelopment of the facility, a new cafe is being created with local businesses being asked if they’re interested in taking over the running of the new facility.
An open evening for anyone interested in running the cafe will be held at the museum on Tuesday, 7 June at 6pm.
Museum curator Carrie Canham said visitors to the museum had long suggested that a cafe would be a great addition to the museum.
She said: “We’ve appointed local designers Camilla Norburg and Jenny Hall to create a stunning, modern cafe space with the history of the Coliseum in the golden age of cinema as the theme. It won’t be a reproduction of the era but it will have the glamour and style of the 1930s.
“We’re looking for a local catering business with a commitment to quality and value to run the cafe. It’s a great opportunity as we’re expecting around 70,000 visitors a year to the museum so we hope the cafe will offer visitors the chance to sample local produce, and at the same time it will support a local business and provide jobs for local people too.”
Cllr Ellen ap Gwynn, the leader of Ceredigion County Council, said: “It’s important to us that the museum supports the local economy as well as providing an enjoyable experience for all its visitors, we hope this new cafe will enhance and add value to visitors’ experience of the venue.”
