Local AM Dafydd Elis-Thomas got a taste of Porthmadog’s rich maritime history by visiting the town’s museum.

Lord Elis-Thomas, AM for Dwyfor Meirionnydd, visited the Porthmadog Maritime Museum with Cllr Gwilym Jones, chair of Porthmadog Town Council, and Gwynedd councillor Selwyn Griffiths to congratulate the museum for being the Welsh winners of the 2019 Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

The awards recognise exceptional service volunteers make within their communities, with Porthmadog Maritime Museum being rewarded for working to preserve and display of the shipbuilding and sea ferry heritage of the area.

During their visit they were accompanied around the museum displays by Dr John Jones Morris and Robert Cadwalader.
