The owner of a shop in Porthmadog has announced she will close her shop early every day as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Meryl Williams, who owns Pikes on the High Street in Porthmadog, said she will close the shop early to benefit her staff members.

She said: “I have decided to close the shop at 12.30pm every day from Monday, 23 March, because half of my staff will no longer be able to work.

“Two will have to self-isolate due to underlying health problems and one will have to be at home with her children because the schools will be closed. During the afternoons I will try to deliver newspapers and other goods to customers who will be self-isolating.”

From this Monday, every Monday to Saturday, the shop hopes to deliver newspapers and goods to people in Porthmadog.
