Following a local consultation by the Porthmadog Town Centre Partnership, it was identified that creating a new brand to unify the town should be a priority.
There were calls for a brand template that could be used by any business; club or organisation in Porthmadog.
To launch the brand, the partnership has created bilingual ‘open/closed’ signs to distribute to every business in Porthmadog, as well as a guide on how to use the brand for businesses.
Cllr Mandy Williams-Davies, Gwynedd Council Cabinet member for the economy, said: “I am delighted that the Buy Local Gwynedd scheme is working together with the Porthmadog Town Centre Partnership in order to encourage shoppers to support the town’s high street businesses.
"Appearances are important and we hope that developing an enticing book and feel for the town’s shops will encourage more people to support and enjoy Porthmadog’s vibrant high street.”
Cllr Selwyn Griffiths, who represents Porthmadog West on Gwynedd Council and is also chair of Porthmadog Town Council, said it was vitally important that every effort is made to ensure that Porthmadog town centre is viable for businesses.
