A Machynlleth supermarket has become home to a discount retailer, creating eight new jobs in the community.

The Original Factory Shop has partnered with the Co-operative to open a new concession inside their Machynlleth store, creating eight new jobs.

The new concession, which covers 2,800 square feet, will see the retailer bring its range of bargain-based clothing, pet products, electrical appliances, homeware, a party shop service and reserve and collect to the local community in a shop within a shop concept.

As a result of the move, The Original Factory Shop will be creating eight jobs and the roles include managers, supervisors and sales colleagues with a recruitment day on the 4th October.

Area manager Julie Richards commented: “We’re really excited to be coming to Machynlleth and to serve the local community. We’re recruiting for eight job positions and are keen to hear from candidates so that we’re ready to start serving the local community when the new site opens in October.”

Erin O’Mahony, Co-op regional manager, added: “Co-op is committed to connecting communities and creating value locally, and our aim is to operate at the heart of local life. We continually work to develop the range, choice, products and added services to create a truly compelling offer for our members and customers, conveniently. And we are delighted to partner with The Original Factory Shop at our Machynlleth store.”

The Original Factory Shop concession is set to open on 25 October.
