Gwynedd Council is calling on everyone to follow the firebreak rules to keep everyone safe.

The council has released a statement recognising the hard work of local businesses in keeping people safe while continuing to trade and keeping our communities vibrant.

Now that there are further changes to the national rules under the firebreak period, which will last until 9 November, Gwynedd Council is calling on everyone to follow the rules and good practice, which include:

· keeping a social distance at all times,

· washing hands regularly,

· not meeting people who do not live in the same household or go to anyone else’s home,

· working from home whenever you can.

Councillor Gareth Thomas, Gwynedd Council’s Cabinet member for the economy, said: “The past few months have undoubtedly been difficult for everyone, and the challenges the business sector has faced are huge.

“As a council, we continue to work with Gwynedd businesses and communities to support each other through the next period in order to safeguard the health of the people of Gwynedd, alongside supporting businesses and the local economy.

“We urge people to follow the national guidelines and rules of the Welsh firebreak period for everyone’s sake. We understand that it is still a difficult time for businesses but their efforts are key to helping control the spread of coronavirus.

“Businesses can keep up to date with all updates on the council’s website www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/businesscovid19, by following @BusnesGwynedd on Twitter.

“I would also encourage all businesses to sign-up for regular newsletters for the latest news - over 3,500 already receive these regular messages.

“We are very grateful to everyone for playing their part in avoiding the further spread of Covid-19 virus.”
