Pitching events for budding entrepreneurs from across North Wales are set to return this year after successful events last year.

The Enterprise Hub, delivered in partnership by Menter Môn and M-Sparc, provides entrepreneurs with the knowledge, guidance, inspiration and space to transform their idea into a successful business.

They held their first pitching event, called Pitch Perfect, in March 2019 and then another in June.

Due to their success, Enterprise Hub are hoping to continue the pitching events and are looking to hold the next one in April.

The Enterprise Hub is a three-year programme, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, operating across North West Wales.

While the main Enterprise Hub is at M-SParc in Gaerwen, there are also established satellite hubs in six other locations to ensure that the service can be accessed across the region.

These places include Dolgellau, Botwnnog, and Porthmadog.

The services include co-working office spaces, a community of like-minded individuals, business advice, a range of educational/social events as well as the newly released Miwtini business start-up programme.

Shoned Owen, founder of Tanya Whitebits in Pwllheli, is a Big Ideas Wales role model and was one of the judges making up the judging panel for the pitching event.

Shoned, 44, set up her own self-tanning business in 2013 as a side project when she learnt that her full-time position was threatened.

It began in 2013 as a mobile tanning service and in 2015 Shoned released a self-tan bronzing mousse range.

The successful entrepreneur commented on the pitching event saying: “It was a really well organised event to be fair. The building itself is very high-tech, they had a sound system and a screen as well. They had a stage so you could see every pitch.

“There was a real buzz around the building and there was a wide range of people; students from the university, some existing businesses, and a lot of organisations were there as well that could help new businesses.

“It was a really good and well organised event, considering it was the first one as well.”
