Mystery surrounds how damage was caused to shop windows in Porthmadog, police have said.
The Cambrian News reported last week that a number of windows in the town had been damaged, with business owners believing someone with an air rifle was to blame.
Among the properties damaged were Richard’s Ladieswear on the High Street and The Ship Inn on Lombard Street.
The damage is thought to have been caused in the early hours of Monday, 23 September.
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said they had received reports from several businesses, but they couldn’t determine how the damage was caused.
A spokesperson said: “We can confirm we have received four reports of damage to shop windows in the Porthmadog area which are believed to have occurred in the early hours of 23 September.
“At this stage it is not possible to determine how the damage has been caused and CCTV enquiries are ongoing. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact Porthmadog Police Station on 101.”
Bridget Booton, landlady of The Ship Inn, said she initially thought the pub had been singled out, but heard throughout the day on Monday, 23 September, that a number of businesses had been attacked.
She added that although the damage to her pub was upsetting, her “small window is nothing compared to the window at the ladieswear shop”.
Richards Ladieswear was also attacked and Emma Pierce, whose parents run the shop, appealed for information on social media.
She said: “It’s obviously some idiot with too much time on his/her hands, someone that has no respect for others and doesn’t care less about someone having to pay for the damage and have the hassle of dealing with fitting a new (huge) shop window!”
