ABERSOCH Post Office is relocating to the village’s Londis store, only two years after it was awarded a £20,000 refurbishment grant.

In November 2013, the post office received the funding through the Welsh Government’s Post Office Diversification Fund, which helps post offices to expand their business and provide new services for the community.

However, this week the Post Office proposed relocating the Abersoch branch to inside Londis in the centre of the village.

Should the move go ahead, the branch would open, seven days a week, from 7.30am – 8pm Monday to Sunday. This would offer an extra 42 hours and 30 minutes of post office service every week.

The Post Office says the proposed move is part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network.

Cllr Wyn Williams said: “I’m very pleased that there is a post office still going to be available in Abersoch. I think it’s a good thing that is going to be centrally located in the village for everyone to have easy access to.”
