A pub in Aberaeron has been fined £1,000 for serving alcohol, against Covid rules.

Ceredigion County Council said the pub, which it didn’t name, was seen by officers from its Public Protection Team to have been supplying alcohol and remaining open when prohibited under the latest regulations.

The pub was issued with a fixed penalty notice of £1,000 for breaching the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (No 4) (Wales) Regulations 2020.

The notice was issued on Wednesday.

The licensee may discharge liability to conviction for the offence if the penalty is paid within 28 days, the council added.

“The authority acknowledges the sacrifices made by the majority of Ceredigion’s licensed premises in order to comply with the coronavirus restrictions,” the council said.

"Action will be taken against premises where they are found to be flouting the requirement under the Regulations to close and not serve alcohol.”
