The manager of a Blaenau Ffestiniog shoe shop has scooped a top national prize.
Delyth Evans from Cambrian Boot, also known as Siop Esi, travelled to Birmingham to accept a plaque in the National Footwear Awards.
The award itself was for Student of the Year.
The course is run by the Society of Shoe Fitters (SSF).
It involves written work covering five modules and two workshops.
One of the workshops, was a factory visit at DB shoes uk factory, where you look at methods of construction, materials, and how they relate to foot health or ‘problem feet’.
The second was at the Society of Podiatry and Chiropody in London, which took a closer look at shoe fitting, health issues that relate to feet and fitting shoes.
The courses are attended by shoe fitters and health professionals.
The SSF have a board who choose the winner, out of students whose names are put forward by the tutors from all over the UK.
The shop itself is known locally as Siop Esi.
Delyth said: “We have found an old order for army boots dating back to 1911, and it has been a shoe shop ever since, but we don’t know how long before 1911.
“I took over from my mother in law nearly two years ago. She worked her since she was 13!”
