ST DOGMAELS Market has scooped a nationwide prize at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Despite its small stature, the producers’ market in the village was named Best Food Market at the 16th BBC Food and Farming Awards at a gala ceremony held in Bristol.

Stallholders representing the market were presented with their award by Diana Henry and Charlie Hicks on the night.

Judges said: “The St Dogmaels Local Producers Market runs every Tuesday.

“Nestled between the ruins of a Medieval Abbey and a working watermill, it offers a wide range of local produce, including quality meats, dairy products and organic vegetables in a region with poor transport links to nearby bigger towns.”

St Dogmaels Market stallholders on their Facebook page were full of congratulations and praise for the market.

The market’s Facebook page said the award meant a “massive well done” was due to all involved.

“It means so much to everyone to have won best market,” the group added.
