STAFF at a popular nightclub in Pwllheli have still not been paid a week after the club announced its shock closure.

Approximately 15 members of staff are still awaiting their last monthly paycheck after VENU closed its doors “for the foreseeable future” last Tuesday (28 August).

A member of staff, who wishes to remain anonymous, has informed the Cambrian News that staff are yet to be paid after receiving a social media message last week telling the staff they had lost their job with immediate effect.

Victoria Morris, the owner of VENU who claims to have spent over £1 million on the facility which opened in November 2015, has subsequently confirmed that the workers who have been left out of pocket will be “paid in full with holiday day pay”.

The assurance comes after a previous suggestion that the money would be paid last Thursday or Friday.

Mrs Morris, who is “devastated beyond belief” following the closure, said: “VENU is in voluntary liquidation.

“Phillip Morris and I are the largest creditor at over a million pounds.

“The staff will all be paid in full with holiday pay.”
