ABERYSTWYTH’S tourist information centre building has been sold to a private buyer ahead of a planned move to the old Boots store as part of a major renovation of Ceredigion Museum.
Lisburne House in Terrace Road had been put up for sale for £295,000 by Ceredigion County Council earlier this year, although the authority said it would not be available until July of next year when the new museum entrance and replacement tourist information centre is expected to open.
The council has now confirmed that the sale of the building, which has been used as Aberystwyth’s tourist information centre since 1989, has been agreed, but has refused to name the buyer or say how much the building was sold for.
A council spokesperson said: “The council can confirm that a sale of the property has been agreed, but is unable to provide any further details at this stage.
“The sale of Lisburne House has only recently been agreed and the property is still owned by Ceredigion County Council rather than by a new owner.
“Both the council and the purchaser are in agreement that, in the circumstances, it would be inappropriate to discuss the matter further at this stage."
