URGENT action has been demanded to make a dangerous Llyn road safer before someone is hurt or killed in an accident.

Calls have been made to reduce the speed limit on the A497 through the village of Boduan, following growing concerns about the number of serious and fatal accidents on the road.

All the campaigners want a new speed limit as soon as possible before there is another accident and are seeking grant-funding.

Liz Saville Roberts MP and North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Arfon Jones have lent their support to Buan Community Council which is calling for a reduction in the speed limit from 60mph to 40mph along with double white lines.

The community council has also started a petition calling for action, signed by dozens of residents already.

Gwynedd councillor for Buan, Anwen Davies, added: “It is a terrible, dangerous road and many of the accidents that occur aren’t even reported.

“We’re only asking for a 40mph speed limit but we need it now, it’s a crisis.

“I urge everyone to sign the petition before I take it to Caernarfon.”
