After weeks of disruption due to storms, the rail line between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury has now fully reopened, Network Rail has announced.

This afternoon, just after 4pm, Network Rail Wales & Borders issued a statement saying: "The whole of the Cambrian Line has reopened.

"It may take an hour or two for services to resume, so please check travel details before travel.

"Thank you all for you patience and understanding!"

Storms Ciara and Dennis brought havoc to the railways throughout February, disrupting journeys for thousands of travellers.

There is a yellow warning for more rain on Friday for parts of Mid Wales.
