We are desperately in need of more Childline volunteers in North Wales, both English and Welsh-speaking, as many of our volunteers have been shielding and are understandably unable to come into our base in Prestatyn.
Our active volunteer numbers have fallen significantly during the Covid-19 crisis, but we are still here for children, providing support to young people when they need it most. Childline gives children and young people a safe space to talk about anything that is happening to them or causing them to worry and that can often be related to mental health concerns, abuse, family and relationship problems and bullying.
We’d love to hear from anyone interested in finding out more about how they can become a specially trained counsellor, volunteering their time to listen to the concerns of children and support them with their worries.
Successful applicants are asked to give a minimum 4.25 hours per week as a counsellor, and receive a comprehensive training package. More information is available on the NSPCC’s website or you can contact me directly on 01745 772101 or via Sally.King-Sheard@ NSPCC.org.uk.
