AN ABERYSTWYTH girl who was struck by cancer while at university wowed the crowds at a star-studded charity event with a musical performance.

Anna Sherratt, 24, from Rhydyfelin, was diagnosed with lymphoma during her last year of university. She struggled to complete her studies before embarking on a gruelling chemotherapy treatment plan.

Throughout her treatment she was supported by the charity CLIC Sargent, which provided a social worker to help her cope with the practical and emotional impact of her diagnosis.

Anna then took part in the charity’s music programme, which arranges workshops for young people affected by cancer to work with professional musicians and improve their performance and song-writing abilities.

Anna, who is now out of treatment and heading a theatre company, was invited to perform at the CLIC Sargent Windsor Race Evening, hosted by TV sporting pundit and charity ambassador Jake Humphrey.

Anna took to the stage during the event and was interviewed by Jake, telling the audience how her cancer treatment affected her emotionally and socially.

She said: “It was brilliant. I was really nervous about talking in front of everyone, but Jake really put me at ease and it felt great to tell my story and then perform in front of that audience.

“The whole night really was amazing."
