A fantastic £200 was raised for the chemotherapy unit at Bronglais Hospital by the Companion Canine Capers event at the Aberystwyth and Ceredigion County Show this year.

Dog Section secretary Kris Fry chose the unit as her husband Les was diaganosed with lymphoma and was treated with chemotherapy in 2018.

Les has been given the all-clear now and is making a good recovery with a phased return to work at Lloyds Coaches in Machynlleth.

Entries came from Ceredigion locals to holidaymakers from the Netherlands, Leicester, Bristol, Cardiff, Bridgend, Abermule, Newbridge-on-Wye, Llandrindod Wells and Llanwrtyd Wells.

Kris said: “On behalf of the Aberystwyth and Ceredigion County Show, may I say a big thank you for all the generous donations and sponsorships received for the Dog Section again this year. Especially to Millies Wolfheart who gave winner’s goody bags to all classes and special bags of food for both Champion and Reserve Champions.

“I would personally like to thank all my special friends for their support and assistance prior to the show, with organising and setting up the Dog Section and their valued help on the day.

“Thank you to our CCC judges, Pete Mellish and Mari Morris, who had a very difficult task of judging with so many entries in each class but coped admirably, especially Mari where this was her first judging appointment.

“We had a fantastic turnout again this year, even with poor weather forecast.”
