Staff at Jig-Sô, Cardigan, were delighted to show the chair of Ceredigion County Council, Cllr Gill Hopley around the centre, including the Sensory Room (pictured, right). During her visit, Cllr Hopley congratulated everyone for their hard work and presented some of the parents who had been accredited by Agored Cymru, in the second course developed and delivered by Angela Springett, senior outreach family support worker at Jig-Sô. This course, entitled Learning Through a Community-Based Activity, is aimed at encouraging and developing structured play for parents, carers and their children, incorporating an awareness of their local community through language and play. Cllr Hopley was also interested to have an update on the developing work of Jig-SôSea angling club

CARDIGAN Sea Angling club recently met for their Annual General Meeting, in the Gwbert Boating Club.Chairman Kevin Copeland, spoke about good and increasing attendance at the fortnightly matches around the beautiful Welsh coastline. He also mentioned that a new CSAC Facebook page had been established by publicity officer Pete Barker and all members were now in constant contact with each other. This has helped the running of the club and is especially useful if a competition or boat trip has to be cancelled at the last minute.Kevin thanked outgoing secretary, Derek Jones, for his time in office and welcomed his replacement, Martin Campion.The club then held their annual dinner and trophy presentation evening at the Penrallt Hotel in Aberporth.Numerous trophies were awarded to the deserving recipients, by Phillipa Noble, who runs Cardigan’s Castaway Tackle shop in Cardigan with her father Graham. They also donated several wonderful raffle prizes including a species match rod, which was won by the new secretary! The club wishes to thank them both for their constant and continuous support for the club in everything they do.Numerous and varied amounts of fish were caught during the 2015 season and the worthy winners, who caught the largest of the named species, were rewarded with the following accolades: Pollock: Paul Cutler. Rockling and Whiting: Pete Barker. Mackerel: Haydn Butt. Flounder and Wrasse: Norman Brewer. Dogfish: Wil Ervin. Flattie Bash, most species, species hunt, annual species, longest bag, best fish and best newcomer: Martin Campion. Runner-up club champion: Kevin Copeland.However, brothers Haydn and Bob Butt once again reigned supreme, both equalling the best attendance record by being at every club match throughout the year.Bob received the runner-up longest bag award whilst also retaining his club champion status for the second year running.New members are always welcome.
