Four people from the Cardigan Area have each run or walked 50 miles in January to raise over £1,500 for Maggie’s Cancer Care Charity in Swansea.

Russell Hasler, Rose Barter and Katina Andreou all ran the distance over the month, while Anne Straker (aged 75) walked it often accompanied by her husband.

The Maggie’s Centre in Swansea is used by many people in West Wales while visiting Singleton Hospital in Swansea for Cancer Treatment.

It is a vital source of support, where cancer patients and their families can get both practical and emotional help all for free.

Rose Barter said: "My husband has recently been diagnosed with cancer and when we drive to Swansea for treatment we can call in and talk to a friendly person who understands what we are going through.

"We can spend our waiting time there, get a coffee, sit in beautiful surroundings and recover from the long journey, or from a difficult treatment session. It’s a lifesaver in many, many ways."

Maggie’s also run face to face and virtual support groups for those with Cancer.
