Cardigan RNLI is appealing for new volunteers to join its lifesaving team, with an open evening taking place today.
The lifeboat station is looking to recruit shore crew and launch vehicle operators, who play vital roles in ensuring its lifeboats can respond quickly and safely to emergencies.
Although much of the attention surrounding lifeboat rescues focuses on those aboard the vessels, volunteers working onshore are equally important to the operation.
Their responsibilities include preparing lifeboats for launch, supporting crews responding to emergencies and operating the vehicles used to launch and recover the boats.
The station, based at Poppit Sands, operates two inshore lifeboats and provides emergency coverage along the coastline and the tidal River Teifi.
Paul Adams, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Cardigan RNLI, said: "Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do."
He encouraged residents who have never previously volunteered with the charity to consider becoming involved.
Prospective volunteers will have an opportunity to visit the station on Monday, 2 November, meet existing team members and discover what the positions involve.
Those interested are asked to read the relevant role descriptions and register their interest beforehand to arrange a visit.
The recruitment drive comes as the station continues responding to emergencies throughout the year.
Its published launch records show that Cardigan RNLI was called out at 11.28am on Sunday, 1 November, although details of that incident have not yet been provided.
The RNLI relies on volunteers to maintain its emergency response capability, with crews available around the clock throughout the year. The roles offer an opportunity to support emergency rescues without joining the crew aboard lifeboats.
Residents interested in supporting their local lifeboat station can find further information about the available roles and how to register for the open evening through the RNLI's website.
