Whilst it was fascinating reading about the success of the ‘Unique Streets’ project in Criccieth (Cambrian News 14 November), I wonder how many people realise that we had successfully managed to get a similar grant, from the same scheme, for Dolgellau but had to return it because the town council declined to support the project.

The money was intended to go towards improving the environment of Eldon Square for both locals and visitors but sadly because of our council’s intransigence we can now only sit back and watch while other towns such as Criccieth benefit.
