WHAT caused a Cardigan widow’s car to veer into the path of an oncoming vehicle will never be known, an inquest has heard.

Glenys Morris, 70, was driving home on the A487 from her daughter’s house when her silver Mazda “drifted” across the central white line on a left-hand bend just outside the village of Felindre Farchog, Pembrokeshire coroner Mark Layton was told.

Her car collided with an oncoming Volvo and Mrs Morris – a popular grandmother and great-grandmother who also left a son and a daughter – sustained fatal injuries.

Coroner’s officer Pc Ian Lang told the inquest that Cardiff-born Mrs Morris, of 62 Maesglas, had moved to Cardigan after meeting her second husband, Clive.

Having trained as a caterer, she went on to become head cook at a local primary school.

She was well known on the local darts circuit, being a leading light of the Cardigan Ladies League.

After her husband’s death in 2014, her family said she became even more independent, describing her as “a good and careful driver” who was familiar with all the local roads.

The day before the accident in July 2015, Mrs Morris had enjoyed a family barbecue and spent the evening at her daughter’s house, before driving home the following afternoon.
