Madam,

I just wanted to say shame on you council for allowing a big national chain like Greggs to come and start up a business in small town like Lampeter. Two local independent bakeries have since closed down. Have they no loyalty to their own local businesses? Briwsion Bakery on College Street and Popty bakery are both local family-run bakeries who I’m sure have contributed their fair share of rates to the local coucil over the years, only to have this thrown in their faces.

Local councils need to stand firm against these multi-million-pound organisations like Greggs, Costa, Starbucks, etc, and start thinking more loyally towards their own small local independent businesses.

Hopefully the people of Lampeter will boycott Greggs and the local council will rethink its planning strategy. Surely small local independent businesses and enterprises need the support of their local council and not a kick in the teeth?

Yours etc,

Jillian Goddard, Aberaeron.
