Peter Davies speaks for many in Wales when he defends Welsh Labour’s pandemic response(Views, 24 June). The Welsh Conservatives leader, Andrew Davies, offered a pandemicinquiry to induce the electorate to vote Tory in the recent Senedd election, and the result of that election reflects what Peter Davies has said.
Andrew Davies has againrecently pressed the issue, which is beginning to resemble the repeated attacks on Channel 4, a diversionary tactic to take the focus off Dominic Cummings.
Channel 4 has been a thorn in the side of the Westminster Tories (and Labour), as Mark Drakeford is to the Welsh Tories, and their common grievance is bias, which is supreme Tory hypocrisy, illustrated by their conduct in the General Strike.
In 1926 the TUC and the Labour leadership requested the right to address the nation on the BBC, and the government response was a peremptory refusal, even ignoring the BBC managingdirector, Lord Reith, whosupported the request. That is the bias that the Tories have long craved, and that prevailed for centuries.
