A group of Lampeter musicians have pulled together to record a Christmas CD to raise money for the town’s foodbank.
Musicians who perform at the Ginger Ale Factory, formerly the Old Quarry, have not been able to play this year because of the pandemic but decided to record their music at home which has been mixed together to produce a Christmas album which is on sale now with the aim of helping out Lampeter foodbank.
The Ginger Ale Factory hosts a popular, monthly open mic night in normal times and performers who haven’t had a chance to take to the stage since March decided to come together, albeit virtually, to record the 19-track album, which was then mixed by Home Brewed Recordings.
One of the artists who has taken part is singer Megan Sutherland, who said: “I’m doing this project because it’s something that helps those in need, especially within the holiday season.
“Many people struggle to afford food in winter and holiday seasons, and this year has only worsened the effect.
“I’m very pleased that the profits from the CD are going to a good cause.
“Having the capability to help those people in need makes me feel very happy that I could contribute in some sort of way.”
The open mic nights at the Ginger Ale Factory gained a strong following before the pandemic, offering local up-and-coming artists a chance to test their talent on stage.
Ginger Ale Factory owner Steve Edwards said: “We wanted to create an environment where people could relax and enjoy themselves in comfort."
The charity CD will go on sale this weekend at The Mulberry Bush on Harford Square in Lampeter.
